The course was created by professors of the Bachelor’s program “European Heritage”, initiators of the project “The European Cultural Path of Francysk Skaryna” Professor Alexander Kalbaska and famous art historian Sergey Charevsky, as well as experts of the project “University Without Borders”

The aim of the course is for students to acquire knowledge on the history of ideas of Eastern and Central Europe in the late 15th – first half of the 16th centuries. on the example of Francysk Skaryna. The personal fate and legacy of Francysk Skaryna are studied in the context of the cultural, scientific and religious history of his era.

The course consists of four main modules:

  1. Education in Skaryna’s era;
  2. Cultural paths of Eastern and Central Europe;
  3. Book culture, medicine and horticultural culture of Europe in the context of Skaryna’s activities;
  4. Personal destiny of a person, personal strategies of that epoch on the example of Skaryna.

The acquired knowledge and skills will be the basis for the realization of individual creative and research projects related to the course topics.
