On March 1st, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the publication of the first book in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the European Humanities University Library solemnly opened the exhibition «The World of Skaryna».

The exhibition features books published over the past half-century dedicated to the great European enlightener and pioneer printer, Francysk Skaryna.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by EHU professors: Prof. Alexander Kolbaskо, Lecturer Sergey Khorevsky, Chairman of the Vilnius Belarusians Club «Syabrina» Valentin Stekh, as well as renowned Lithuanian historians Dr. Alvydas Nikžentaitis, Dr. Alfredas Bumblauskas, and Dr. Sergey Temchin, who delivered brief welcome speeches.

EHU Rector Prof. Sergey Ignatov concluded the event with a speech highlighting the significant importance of such initiatives for strengthening the university’s identity and educating students as the youth involved in European civilization, of which the brilliant Belarusian humanist Francysk Skaryna was a prominent representative in the early 16th century.

The exhibition at the EHU Library will run for over a month until early April.
